Community rules
The community board and photo gallery are for people who live, work or spend time in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. They are run by The Dartmouth Almanac, which is independent of the Town.
Every post is read first. A person reads each post, reply and photo before it appears. That usually takes less than a day. We may edit for length or decline anything that does not fit.
What fits
- Questions and answers about life in town.
- Recommendations for local places and people, from your own experience.
- Lost and found, and neighbors offering or asking for a hand.
- Your own photographs of Dartmouth, today or from the family album.
What does not
- Personal attacks, harassment, or naming private people in a bad light.
- Advertising and links. Businesses can list themselves for free.
- Election campaigning, and posts that are mainly about national politics.
- Home addresses, phone numbers and other private details, yours or anyone’s.
- Photos of people who have not agreed to be shown, and any photo of a child’s face without a parent’s consent. When in doubt, shoot the scene, not the person.
- Anything illegal, dangerous or false. For emergencies call 911.
Your photos and words
You keep ownership. By posting you allow The Dartmouth Almanac to show your post or photo on the site, with the name you gave, for as long as it stays up. You can ask us to remove it at any time. Your email is used only so an editor can reach you; it is never published. Location data is removed from photos when they are uploaded.
Something wrong?
Every post and reply has a “Report this” link. A person looks at each report, usually the same day.
